The CrossFit Open starts Friday, October 11th. The Open is an annual online competition hosted by CrossFit as the first stage of the CrossFit Games. For five straight weeks, CrossFit releases a workout on Thursday night and participants have until the following Monday evening to submit a score for that workout. The Open is usually held in February and March, but due to changes in the CrossFit Games season structure, the Open has moved to October-November for the start of the 2020 season.
Here at CrossFit Fernandina, we usually make the Open a big deal by doing an Intramural Open with teams and by hosting Friday Night Lights. However, since we just did all of that earlier this year, we’re not going to do it again for this Open.
We will still do the Open workouts and everyone is invited to register through CrossFit if they wish. Open workouts will still be announced on Thursday nights as in year’s past, and we’ll still do the Open workouts as our class workouts each Friday. If you choose to register, we’ll make sure you’re workout is judged and we’ll validate your scores.
You can officially register for the Open through CrossFit by clicking here.
Coming up even sooner than the Open is the Grit Games down at Jacksonville Beach. We have a number of teams participating again this year. Good luck to everyone competing! Everyone else is invited to come out and support our teams. Details for the event can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
